Awesome seeing Joffrey go down. Here's my theories on who could have killed him:

Oberyn Martell: An obvious axe to grind with the Lannisters, he's probably my first choice for the killer. Brand new character and this is the way the show sets him up going forward.

Olenna Redwyne: She's made subtle comments about what a piece of shit Joffrey is before and there were some interesting camera shots right at her for almost no particular reason. I would imagine she did it so maybe her granddaughter could then marry the next in line (Joffreys brother?) and he'd be easier to control.

Sansa: Ehh she's too deer in the headlights for such a plan, but her motivations are quite obvious. Plus maybe that weird scene where Dontos gives her a necklace and then whisks her away from the wedding has something to do with it.

Fun fact. A Lannister in this episode said something that is going to set-up the "OMG" in episode 9. I love how the little pieces get put into place in the show. In the book things are much more vague, here its just fun to see it come together so cleanly.

Another thing is that is awesome is that in the book, Ser Ilyn Payne (the guy without the tongue/killed Ned) helped retrain Jaime. In the show, they made it Bronn. And lord knows we need more Bronn.

I'll miss his clicking at Jaime. The guy that played him died, and he was only shown a couple times anyway, so Bronn was a good choice.

Well they've already rotated out three different characters. Does it even matter? Pretty sure that's not the same Tommen now as well. Also, Tommen is supposed to be like 10. I wish they could keep the ages down a little bit, or at least remind us how young these kids are supposed to be. Makes the shit they do more exciting. Joffrey was supposed to be 14, Maergery 18ish I believe. That makes the Wedding a little weird to think about, Joffrey seem more evil, and his death a tinge bit sad.

Sad? I'm willing to bet there were guys tea-bagging their TV screen last night while blood poured out of that blonde bastard's nose as he choked his last breath.

I don't know if I remember a TV character's death being so widely, collectively anticipated. And the actor who plays him seems like SUCH A NICE KID. Guess it shows how good he owned the role, to get that much attention toward your character, good or bad, you had to do it well.

Yeah that is a big difference from the books. As I remember Ned was only supposed to be in his mid 30's when he was killed. Robb was 15, so Robert Rebellion happened when Ned was in his late teens. But I think it works for TV though because child actors by in large suck (see The Walking Dead). I think Jack Gleeson (Joffery), and the girl that plays Ayra were the only two cast that haven't looked like they've aged that much from the start of the series. Bran's voice changed mid episode last season and the girl playing Sansa looks like a tall statue of a woman on screen to me.

You can't anticipate a growth spurt, Sansa shot up like a magic beanstalk and is actually taller than a lot of the male actors now, she makes Dinklage look a stuffed animal next to her.

Sophie Turner who plays her is an absolute stunner. Almost all the pictures Ive seen of her she has that classic beauty that seems to really shine on camera. That girl would have been a super model if she hadn't gotten into acting. I think I have a bigger celebrity crush on her than Emilia Clarke.

Ha! I see what you did there. Wrong Sophie Turner.
I agree on both accounts, but in the show he looked to be like 16-18. But when you knock them down 4 years, it makes some of the things that happen make more sense, more serious/sad and in certain cases WAY more creepy. (Daenerys, Jon, & Sansa). In Joffrey's case, it makes him more evil that's he's 13-14, he's an evil dick that doesn't know any better. At the same time, he was 13-14, lots of kids were dicks then, maybe he could have been turned around.

Play this game for the rest of the season. Take those 3 living characters, and then knock 4 years off them in your mind while you watch. So much shit will have more impact. Double for Dany and Sansa.

Dany is a 13 year old girl that is leading a goddamn army (and 3 dragons). She already took over an entire city and is poised to do it again. First think about the dudes that are grown men and have to take orders from her. Then think about the dudes who's cities she's trying to take. And then think about the two grown men who want to fuck her brains out. Its adds a little more "whoa" when you think about how old they're supposed to be. Also makes George RR Martin look like a dirty old man.

The age thing is such a non-issue. The spirit of the ages is preserved, even if the actual ages aren't. Martin researched medieval times, figured people didn't live very long and so made everyone in the books very young. But in the context of the books, the ages aren't really that far off the mark for fucked up shit they're thrust into.

Translate that to screen. It would be horrifying to see a 13-year-old Dany riding around boning Khal Drogo. But it's not supposed to be horrifying, it's supposed to be relatively par for the course. Thus, aged up actors.

I still think Emilia Clarke looks like she's 15 though, which seems about right. And Sansa is always described as looking older and taller and more womanly in the books, so Sophie Turner is basically the best actress ever by hitting puberty just right.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree.

The age does matter. The older characters were not 'old' at 28 as they would have been in medieval times. There are plenty of older characters that fought wars that are 20 years gone and still kicking around fairly healthy in their 40's. Master Aemon is pushing 100, Sir Barristan is pretty damn old. Jorah Mormont was old, and his son is clearly in his 40's, if not pushing 50. This is all consistent with the books. Part of the main theme of 'A Song of Ice and Fire' is pitting of opposites against each other. Dany (who was @13 in the books) against the old world order. The young Starks against the older Lannisters. And these themes deepen with the Night's Watch and new characters in Feast.

In other words, if the explanation was simply 'George looked at old times, found people started their marriages and careers at 12 or 13, and thus updated' he surely would have found most people's marriages and careers were done by age 30 in those times. Such an easy to find discrepancy would not have been missed. As such, given the themes, the age does matter and is one of the main underlying themes in the books.

Obviously stuff has been changed for tv, and that's fine, it translates well, but I think it's misguided to assume because it was an easy translation that the author didn't do it on purpose in the books.

Last night Rule 34 was trumped officially. I doubt there is porn out there of twin siblings fucking against the corpse of their son. That shit was so hot.

And Littlefinger needs to fuck off. I don't care if he has "wisdom" he's been a bitter, creepy little coward from day 1. Never liked him, never will.

According to a friend of mine, the whole sex thing was consensual in the book so it was interesting that the writers changed it to a rape.

I guess they did spoil somethings on that episode. But still cracks me up particularly in the light of all the wieners this episode.

Fucking good episode. They are really doing well giving you enough of each storyline for each episode I hardly notice the story lines not used, Bran, Theon, etc.

The karmic justice continues, Jamie basically raping Cersi. Who killed King Joffery is a good whodunit and look forward to the guessing game this season. I could see Tywin maybe since Tyrion's suggestion seemed legit, the Tyrell's just to avoid a horrible fate for Margaery, and maybe Littlefinger. I still don't know if Tywin would be willing to have one, or any, of his children executed but I could be very wrong.

I do not like at all what they've done with Littlefinger (or Varys) characters in the show. He is one of the shrewdest, most subtle guys in the story in the books, and on the show he's just an evil dude with a raspy voice.
